Getting free voicemail with Skype

Normally, you will need to subscribe to the Skype Voicemail service in order to have incoming calls to your Skype ID answered when you are not there, or are on another call.

However a number of third-party additions to Skype are available and one of these provides a free voicemail service. It's slightly different, as it runs  as a seperate program rather than as part of Skype, but it works fine.

SAM (Skype Answering Machine) is a free download which can intercept incoming Skype calls, play them your message, collect a message they leave after the 'beep' and then allow you to listen to their message and call them back later.
